Storm Restoration & 24-Hour Response

From tornados to ice — when the grid goes dark, every hour counts. Call our 24-hour hotline and we roll.

Emergency contact

Storm emergency? Reach us any hour, any day.

Our main line prompts through to an on-call responder around the clock.

Why it matters

When the lights go out, the clock starts

A major storm doesn't wait for Monday morning. Ice loads snap conductors, straight-line winds fold structures, and a single failed span can leave an entire feeder — homes, farms, a hospital, a water-treatment plant — sitting in the dark. From the moment the lights go out, the clock starts and so do the questions: how bad is it, how long, and who can actually get here.

That's the call we're built to answer. Since 2000 we've treated storm response as a standing commitment, not an afterthought — priority 24-hour mobilization, equipment staged to move, and crews who've done this across five states and every kind of weather the Upper Midwest can throw at them.

What's involved

How we work a storm

  1. Pick up the phone

You reach a real person, not a queue. We size up the damage with you, confirm scope and access, and tell you straight what we can have moving and when.

  2. Mobilize

Trucks, material, and crews stage and roll — priority 24-hour mobilization, so help is on the road while the weather's still clearing.

  3. Assess & make safe

On site, we patrol the damage, lock out hazards, and triage the rebuild so the largest blocks of customers — and the critical loads — come back first.

  4. Rebuild the line

Set structures, string conductor, splice and sag, re-frame what the storm took down. The same crews that build transmission and distribution from scratch are the ones putting it back.

  5. Restore & verify

Energize section by section, confirm the system is whole, and walk it with you before we call it done — then leave the site clean.

What you get

What this means for you

  • Same-day movement — priority 24-hour mobilization means you’re not waiting in line behind every other utility in the region.
  • One crew, start to finish — assessment, rebuild, and re-energizing handled by people who build this line every day.
  • Fewer customer-hours in the dark — triage that restores the most critical and highest-count loads first.
  • A safety record you can hand to your board — no major accidents since 2000, even on the hardest storm work.
  • Proven across five states and every Upper-Midwest extreme — ice, wind, flood, and deep cold.
  • 24/7 priority mobilization
  • Same day crews on the road
  • 25+ yrs storm response since 2000
  • Zero major accidents since 2000

What we've done

Electric cooperative

South Dakota · 2026

A tornado came through South Dakota. We rolled out and rebuilt what it took down.

Electric cooperative

2024

A wind storm put lines on the ground across the service territory.

Investor-owned utility

2026

Straight-line winds tore through the system and we mobilized on the restoration.

Storms don’t keep business hours. Neither do we.

Save our 24-hour hotline before the next one hits — priority mobilization when it counts.
