New Construction & Upgrades

From open air to existing transmission, we can construct 115kV to underground distribution.

What we do

Services we provide

  • Installation and retirement of poles
  • Retiring conductor
  • Realigning existing poles
  • Installing transformers, secondary to meter
  • Installing guy wires and anchors
  • Hot work
Why it matters

Build for the load that’s coming

Demand on the grid only moves one direction. New subdivisions, irrigation, electrified equipment, the occasional data center — the load curve climbs, and lines that carried a rural county comfortably in 1995 are running hot and brittle today. Build too slowly and you're rationing capacity; let it age and you're buying outages on the installment plan.

That's the work we've done since 2000: greenfield transmission and distribution built from the survey stakes up, and tired systems rebuilt conductor by conductor while they stay in service. New capacity engineered to carry what's coming — not just patch what's already here.

What's involved

How we build it

  1. Plan & stake

We walk the route with your engineering, confirm easements, access, and clearances, and turn the design into a build plan with a schedule you can hold us to.

  2. Foundations & structures

Set poles and steel — bored, augered, or direct-embed as the soil and span demand — framed to spec and built for the loads of the next few decades, not just today’s peak.

  3. String & energize

Pull, sag, and tension conductor to engineered limits, terminate, and bring the line online — coordinated with your operations so switching and outages stay planned, not surprises.

  4. Upgrade in service

On rebuilds we reconductor and reframe existing lines while keeping customers energized wherever possible, sequencing the work so downtime is short, scheduled, and communicated.

  5. Walk it & hand it off

Inspect, document, and clean up the right-of-way, then hand you a system you can stand behind — with the as-builts to prove it.

What you get

What this means for you

  • Capacity engineered for what’s coming — lines built to carry tomorrow’s load, not just today’s peak.
  • Schedules you can plan around — clear timelines and coordinated outages instead of open-ended disruption.
  • Upgrades without the dark — reconductoring and rebuilds done in service wherever the system allows.
  • One contractor from stakes to energized — survey, foundations, framing, and stringing handled by the same crews.
  • Built to the same standard as everything we do — no major accidents since 2000.
  • 25+ yrs building T&D since 2000
  • 5 states and counting
  • In-service upgrades, lights stay on
  • Zero major accidents since 2000

What we've done

Electric cooperative

Mitchell, SD · 2023–2026

Multiple projects across the area over four years, setting wood poles, ductile steel poles, and laminate poles.

Electric cooperative

2025

8 miles of three-phase distribution and 7 miles of transmission built to serve dairy loads.

Investor-owned utility

Lake Norden, SD

40 miles of T2 conductor pulled with tension stringing.
