Journeyman Lineman

Full-time · Montevideo, MN + regional travel

Apply for this role

This is the job the rest of the company is built around. You’ll run new distribution and transmission construction — greenfield builds from the survey stakes up, and rebuilds done conductor by conductor while the line stays in service — and you’ll be on the phone when the weather turns and a co-op needs crews rolling.

You’ll also be the one an apprentice is watching. We take that seriously, and so should you: the safety record here is the result of people who don’t cut corners when nobody’s looking.

What you'll do

  • Run distribution and transmission line construction, new build and in-service rebuild
  • Perform hot work and energized maintenance to spec
  • Respond to 24/7 storm restoration calls across the service area
  • Supervise and train apprentices on live work
  • Hold the job site to the safety practices and MREA standards we work under

What we're looking for

  • Journeyman lineman certification
  • A valid CDL (commercial driver’s license)
  • Willingness to travel across our five-state service area, including storm call-outs
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screening

Pay and benefits

$30–$40 per hour

  • Health insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off

Travel is required — our work spans five states. Karian Peterson pays for lodging, and per diem is offered on top of it.

How hiring works

  1. Send us your application through the online form.
  2. We call you to set up an interview.
  3. If you’re hired, you complete a drug screening and a five-hour paid orientation before your first day on a crew.
